Jabez and Robert Waterman shipbuilding records, 1787-1808.

Primarily accounts and an agreement in which Jabez Waterman agreed to build a ship for Samuel Welles, 1801, both of Glastonbury, Connecticut. According to the documents in this collection, Jabez began working for Wells in 1787 hewing timber and threshing flax. There are several accounts between Robert and Jabez Waterman with Samuel Welles. Also an account of Jabez Waterman with the owners of the Schooner Nancy which Waterman was building, and a statement that Jabez built the ship John Morgan in Glastonbury for Samuel Wells. Of interest are two bills to Samuel Welles from James Doolittle of Hartford for the purchase of a brass and a wooden compass and for deep sea leads, 1807 and 1808 respectively.
